Women’s AI Breakfast at Davos 2024

The Mia team had the privilege of attending an insightful 'Women's AI Breakfast' hosted by AI House Davos. This event brought together several leading women in the field to discuss the critical role of diversity and inclusivity in shaping the future of AI.

The morning panel included discussion, which featured Anna Makanju Leading Global Affairs at OpenAI along with the other panelists including Deemah AlYahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) and Nigina Muntean, Chief Innovation at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The event was moderated by Nicole Büttner of Merantix Momentum and the discussions covered several key topics and insights.

The panel shared valuable insights on several key topics:

  • Addressing AI bias: The importance of ensuring that AI systems are unbiased and safe was a central theme of the discussions. The discussions emphasized the role of diverse talent in identifying and mitigating biases, thereby promoting equitable AI solutions.

  • Inclusive AI regulation: The discussion emphasized the need for co-creation and co-design of AI policies that involve diverse inputs, ensuring that regulations are inclusive and representative of various societal needs. Appreciating the recognition of the importance of collaboration and representation in AI governance was a key takeaway.
  • Collaborative AI Development: Encouraging cross-sector collaboration, with diverse talents contributing unique insights, was highlighted as crucial for developing AI that is inclusive and addresses a wide array of societal challenges. Encouragement was found in the emphasis on harnessing the power of collaboration to address complex challenges
