Mia Team Spotlight: Meet Nicole Sterling

We are thrilled to announce that Nicole Sterling has joined our team as Head of Community to help us grow Mia and unlock economic opportunities for women in emerging technologies.

We are delighted to introduce Nicole, our Head of Community, who brings an incredible wealth of experience and an undeniable passion for community building, connecting, and learning.

As someone who loves getting to know other people, Nicole enjoys the energy when she's exchanging ideas with others. She loves to travel and sample world cuisine! She has traveled to four continents and twenty-five countries, three of which she's lived in.

Nicole's community management journey began in Spain over two and a half years ago, when her simple online post led to the creation of the 'Expat Ladies of Madrid' Facebook Group, now having over 4,000 members and hosting various fun events.

Her journey then led her to ThePower Business School in Madrid, where she served as their Global Community Building Manager. In this role, she managed a student ambassador program and helped the PowerMBA community expand to over 15,000 people! Additionally, she played an instrumental part in creating a Community Networking platform using Hivebrite.

Nicole then went on to Formative and fell in love with the opportunity to be a Community and Engagement Manager: in a setting where she could directly impact teachers’ lives so they could share resources, hone their classroom practices, and meet their students’ needs in real-time. She pioneered the Formative Champions program, has grown a community of thousands of educators, helped create the Formative Certified Educator Certification, oversaw all company engagement, and learned more about education around the world.

Nicole's dedication to fostering meaningful connections and nurturing growth makes her a valuable addition to our team.

As our Head of Community, Nicole will be focusing on building and nurturing relationships within our user base, creating valuable resources and opportunities for engagement, and ensuring our community members feel supported and heard.

Her expertise in developing and managing community programs will be invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve.

We asked Nicole—

Why MIA?

Working at Mia means trying to close the gender gap and help women advance in technology and achieve their full economic potential. That’s why I’m here.

What is your superpower?

Relationship Building

One motto or career tip you would like to share with the world

One person alone can’t change the world, however when a group of people with similar interests comes together to work towards a common goal that’s how change is made. That’s community.

We are excited to welcome Nicole to our team and look forward to witnessing the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on our community.

Her passion for community building, learning, and connecting will help shape the future of Mia, and we couldn't be happier to have her on board!
